Spyglass News

During my final year of high school, I worked as a writer and Editor-in-Chief of Spyglass News. In my role as editor, I was responsible for maintaining a database of articles in progress, following up with writers, proofreading articles, providing feedback, and publishing. In addition, I created and managed a new website for the publication, keeping it regularly updated. I wanted the website to feature more than just articles, so I worked with students from multimedia, music production, and film and video classes, to make the site more interactive and visually appealing. To foster more student interaction with the publication, I opened a submission page open to all students, and published their essays, poems, artwork, and more.

On top of my editorial work, I regularly wrote articles. I challenged myself to write fifty articles by the end of the school year, and at least two articles for each beat. Although I met this goal, the most rewarding part of my journalism work was the privilege of working with a group of talented writers to create a space for student-led journalism.

While the website I created and managed has been replaced in recent years, you can still read my articles below.
